eXalter by Jalas Exalter - "World's lightest Safety shoe?" = 399 g
This autumn Jalas will launch its Exalter range of safety footwear. Exalter represents an entirely new type of concept in its product category. It has also been the most extensive product development project ever carried out by Jalas. The goal has been to develop a lighter, sportier and more elegant S1 class protective shoe for light-industrial use. Over a two-year period, a group of leading experts from six different countries took part in development and testing of the product. Their efforts resulted in footwear that combines the look of a running shoe with the best in ergonomics. A patent has also been sought for the product's special structure.
The main difference between Exalter and conventional safety footwear is its unique weight, less than 399 grams. This is approximately 40% below the average for the safety footwear now on the market. The choice of materials was the main factor contributing to the low weight. The toecap of the shoe is made of aluminium and the upper of durable yet extremely lightweight micro-fibre. In the sole, combinations of lightweight, electricity-conducting materials developed especially for Exalter were used. To ensure proper friction qualities and twist rigidity, two materials with different degrees of hardness were combined. The ergonomics were also improved with separate shock-absorbing pads at the ball of the foot and in the heels and with holes for breathing in the sides.
Exalter's sporty appearance is the result of design, colours, and carefully devised detail. The combination of grey and black is enlivened by orange detail and by reinforcements in the upper achieved with a spray technique. The Exalter last conforms to normal Jalas measurements and was designed for both women and men. Exalter shoes have string fastenings and range in size from 36 to 47.
Exalter footwear will be on display to customers at the Düsseldorf A+A 2007 Fair from the 18th to the 21st of September and at the Finnsec Fair in Helsinki from the 3rd to the 5th of October. This year the first 17,000 pair consignment of the Exalter 9000 Limited Edition will come on the market. The product family will be gradually expanded with new models during next year.
